R. Zachary Gelber is a seasoned litigator who helps guide professionals and businesses through complex civil litigation, arbitration, strategic advice, and actions brought by the Securities Exchange Commission, FINRA, and the Department of Justice.
Mr. Gelber specializes in resolving disputes between members of closely-held businesses, and in employment related matters. He has litigated a broad range of commercial disputes, including complex real estate litigation, fiduciary duty and insider fraud claims, and art fraud.
Before starting his own practice, Mr. Gelber worked with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP, where he represented brokers, traders, CEOs, CFOs, broker-dealers, hedge funds, and other individuals and institutions in a wide variety of litigation, securities enforcement, and white collar criminal matters.
Mr. Gelber has secured favorable settlements for dozens of brokers and traders under investigation by the S.E.C., FINRA enforcement, and numerous state securities departments in matters including securities fraud, excessive trading, trading ahead of a client, marking the close, backing away from a market and insider trading. Mr. Gelber also represented the S.E.C. appointed Madoff receiver immediately following Mr. Madoff's arrest.
Mr. Gelber also represents clients with a wide variety of real estate issues, including purchase and sale agreements, lease and contract negotiation, financing, business planning, and federal and state litigation.
